Sonic the Comic?
|STC is a comic
based on the adventures of Sega's flagship mascot Sonic the
Hedgehog, as well as including strips of many other famous
Sega characters such as; Ecco the Dolphin, Sparkster and
Streets of Rage. STC was produced by two companies over its
8 year and 223 issue life span; issues 1 to 88 were produced
by Fleetway Editions, but after issue 88 Egmont bought
Fleetway and so Fleetway became a subsidiary of Egmont so
from issue 89 onwards it was produced by Egmont Fleetway.
STC started in the latter quarter of 1993 and contained all
original stories until 133 when they started reprinting one
old strip an issue; gradually as time went on all strips
became reprints and all extra content (Control Zone, Graphic
Zone, etc) was ditched, this is due to Egmont trying to
increase profit by decreasing cost but this action also lost
them a lot of readers. This whole cost cutting affair led to
the cancellation of STC in the latter part of 2000 or early
2001 at issue 223.
|Over the 8 year
life time the artists and writers produced a lot if
excellent strips following along the lines of the Sonic
games of the day from the Death Egg Saga (Sonic 3 &
Knuckles), to the Sonic Adventure adaptation. Meanwhile
there where some guest appearances from the cast from
Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Shining Force, and Decap Attack
which all gained a following by fans. Then there where the
original creations from the STC with the likes of Pirate
S.T.C. and Megadroid. You will be able to find all of these
eventually for download in the comics section.
Sonic Mag - B.D. Jeux Video?
Some of the early Sonic the Comic
stories were translated and released in France under the name
of Sonic Mag which was release monthly. Unfortunately Sonic Mag only lasted 6 issues, and only
one special edition was released. Unlike the UK version multi part
stories were normally released all in one issue meaning there were
only two or three stories per issue. All extra content from these
issues was written specifically for Sonic Mag.
